We are pleased to welcome back Alexandra (Alexandra’s Africa) after her 2018 Safari season in South Africa.
Alexandra runs her small group Safaris each year during September, October and November – which is Springtime in South Africa and, Alexandra tells us, is the perfect time of year for game viewing, for bird watching, for photography - and temperatures by day and night are perfect – "not too hot and not too cold”.
She ran a number of small-group Safaris this year and tells us that this was one of the best seasons for game viewing she can remember – particularly for lion and cheetah sightings! Some of the highlights she has shared with us include:
• Introducing star (& moon) gazing activities and photography to her tours
• Experiencing a herd of elephants walking right through the lodge
• Listening and observing a Jackal howling at sunset calling her three tiny young pups
• Seeing the very rare and endangered Ground Hornbill birds
• And last but not least - an Aardvark sighting.
She also mentioned a very very large crocodile at one waterhole! She is now busy planning for the 2019 September/October/November Safari season. Alexandra will be hosting a number of presentations in the Waterside area during the Spring – so if you are keen on learning more – keep an eye out for those in the local newspapers!
